We’re in Florida for a family wedding (we were last here back in 2016 with Sonny in my tummy, on our way to Costa Rica) and a bit of a roadtrip. Waking up here today, and it being International Women’s day, it seems fitting to champion Emma Gonsalez, a survivor from the horrific shooting in a Florida High school last month and now turned incredible activist. Emma is now a fierce advocate for stricter gun laws – I love that she’s amassed more Twitter followers than the NRA.
In the meantime, I hope you’re all doing well. Here’s a few questions I’d love you to answer if you have a mo:
- Something delicious you ate recently
- An awesome purchase you made
- What you’re excited about this Summer
- Who you’re spending today with
Thank you for being here, as ever x x x
P.S Easy peasy berry smoothie
P.P. S We’ve actually still to plan some of it so if you know any places to stay around Key West / Everglades, pls let me know.
What a wonderful trip! The Keys must be awesome, would love to go there!
To answer your questions:
1- poached pears in rooibos and honey
2- a Liberty print shirt in a thrift shop
3- this summer we will be spending time in Umbria and Tuscany with our family, will enjoy every ray of light and the beauty of my countryside! We are also considering a 10 days trip to Chicago to visit our cousins, we will see…
4- with my little one and an artist I’m working with, we will spend the afternoon at her show in an art gallery here in Milan.
Hey Laura, ah love all this. Those pears sound ??? A’s doesn’t thrift shopping and summer trips to Umbria. Love that you’re taking your little omen to art galleries too, have you seen my recent post on fun Instagram accounts? There’s a great one about kids in museums. Happy Friday ?
Heeeey
We just got back from a friend’s wedding in a Florida Keys last week too… spooky. It’s all a bit battered down there still from storm Irma which is a massive shame but the Bahia Honda state park is worth a visit, make sure you head to a sunset bar for sunset dins (obviously) – a beautiful spot is Morada Bay on Islamorada. There’s a lovely vegan/veggie shop and cafe on Marathon called Food For Thought, lovely place serving gorgeous healthy fresh food and has lovely fresh market veg and a cute library too, child friendly.
Our 18 month old loved the butterfly house in Key West and there’s meant to be some nice botical gardens in key west too that we didn’t have time to make it to unfortunately. Florida Keys brain dump complete 🙂 Piccies from trip on insta Lizzydixxy
Something delicious you ate recently:
Dark chocolate
An awesome purchase you made:
Kanken backpack made from all recycled plastic has turned out to be the ultimate baby change bag
What you’re excited about this Summer:
Picnics on the park, holiday with family, yurt trip with my girly friends
Who you’re spending today with:
My gorgeous lil boy
Have a lovely holiday
Hey lizzy. Ah these tips are amazing, thank you so much. We were looking into staying on Isla Morada but cant find anywhere to stay. Any recommendations at all? Also your summer sounds ? xxx
We stayed in a house rental via a site called VRBO. Many were week minimum rentals but some owners may be flexible. We also liked the look of a motel called La Jolla but it was full for our dates, might be worth a look.
We also stayed a few nights in Marathon in a lovely place called Ocean Reef Resort, they were beautiful prairie style town houses on the gulf side. Really liked this place but not sure how pricey it was as we were moved there due to our (probably much cheaper) hotel closure!
Marathon is probably a bit better located for exploring as it’s more central, and a lot of the beaches on islamorada are private which was quite annoying
Hope you find somewhere soon!
Sorry, Indigo Reef, not Ocean Reef x
thanks lovely ! really struggling to find somewhere that looks cool / clean / affordable! will check out La Jolla for sure 🙂 x
Glad you got there okay babe!
I made a yummy sandwich for lunch – hummus, goats cheese, avocado and cucumber… SO GOOD!
A purchase we made recently I’m excited about – a stainless steel lunchbox for my new job with the National Trust! Can’t wait to bring tasty lunches with me and not have to use tin foil/ plastic Tupperware to carry it!
This summer I’m mega excited for our trip to Colorado!! It’s my absolutely favourite and can’t wait to see all my beloveds, watch Christine and Rob get married, and maybe take a little road trip up into the mountains ❤️

Enjoy Florida! We have just come back from the Caribbean and it was just so good spending time in the sunshine, enjoying the heat and the beach… I love winter but I am so ready for Spring and Summer!
Something delicious I ate recently – Raspberries, on their own, just like that. So good!
An awesome purchase – the Odin necklace from Lines and Current. Love it!
Excited about this Summer – Baby number 2 joining the family at the end of July!
Spending today with – work colleagues (and my Bump) as I am in the office today! I like my colleagues, but I am already looking forward to being on mat leave! Ha!

Have fun in Florida!
I had an amazing decaf coffee this morning (sensitive to caffeine).
I just purchased a Cotopaxi bag for our family travels soon. They repurpose unused extra fabric from other projects and create colorful bags with a 61 year life expectancy.
I am so excited for my family’s upcoming trip to the Philippines, it’s been years since I’ve been back.
I am spending the day with my 2 year old son, I started work part-time a few months ago and I feel like I never get enough quality time with him anymore. So soaking it in while I can!
Ah Philippines is totally on my bucket list – that’s going to be amazing ?? p.s off to look into Cotopaxi!
Oooh Florida is so fun! We are thinking of heading there this summer.
